The state of Washington is divided into four guidebooks containing over 400 VR panoramas: To begin, just click one of the guidebooks (regions) listed here, or click on the map, or scroll down to see a detailed list. Not familiar with VR panoramas? - CLICK HERE - to see an example.

Washington has it all -- rain forests, deserts, glaciers, cities, islands, mountains, even active volcanoes. It has the major city of Seattle plus three national parks - Mount Rainier, Olympic, and North Cascades.

My first trip to Washington was when I was twelve years old, a family road-trip to the 1962 World's Fair. I have been going back almost every summer, poking into just about every part of the state. In the summers of 2011 and 2012 I intend to visit, and if necessary revisit, Mount Rainier until I get some panoramas that really do it justice. Similarly, I want to take some serious hikes into the North Cascades and on the Olympic Peninsula, and explore more of Seattle.

I have divided Washington into four guidebooks, north-south slices following the topographic and climatic progression of coast, valley, mountains and desert.

  • Next comes the guidebook to the Washington Cascades with both North Cascades and Mount Rainier National Parks, plus Mount Saint Helens;
  • and finally Eastern Washington, covering half the state, mostly the arid Columbia Plateau.
