The West End Road begins along the west side of Isthmus Cove. This road, easy to hike or cycle, extends almost to the western tip of the island.

A small permanent and larger summer population live in Two Harbors. All are employees of the Island Company, the Catalina Conservancy, or Los Angeles County.

This was my campsite at the Two Harbors Campground. Cabins are available further inland, plus two group campsites on their own beaches.

There is a large campground with its own beach on the east side of Ishtmus Cove. When I was there in May I was the only one in the campground mid-week.

On the terrace of the historic Banning House, now a bed and breakfast. It was built in 1910 by the Banning family, at that time the time owners of the entire island.
