Truckee is an old railroad town, though now more concerned with traffic on Interstate 80. It is located between the grade up to Donner Pass on the west, and the descent into the Truckee River Canyon to the east.

The main street through Truckee is the old Donner Pass Road, lined with restored historic buildings. My wife and I stayed at the old Truckee Hotel after getting married in Reno, in the Presidential Suite.

Boca is an historic spot on the Truckee River, site of the Boca Brewery from 1879 to 1896. Boca lager was brewed with local spring water and ice, shipped by train to San Francisco.
