Westport is the last town before the coast highway gives up and turns inland. It is a tidy cluster of Victorians, some authentic, others recent, in a dramatic setting.
Westport-Union Landing State Park gives access to the coast just north of town. The highway was prudently moved inland from its original route, and the old roadbed is now used for camping, one of the few places you can (legally and safely) camp right on the clifftop.
