Mount Shasta City is now legally called simply Mount Shasta - how confusing! In addition to an historic fish hatchery and a string of charming motels along old highway 99, it now has two bottled water operations, utilizing springs from the base of Mount Shasta. The Sacramasnto River is held by some to originate in one partiular spring in the city park.

Mount Shasta is also know as a religious center, including the headquarters of the I AM foundation. You will see shops specializing in spiritual and metaphysical books, crystals and charms along the main street, notice references to Saint Germain and spiritual vortexes.
