New Mexico is divided very simply into two guidebooks featuring over 200 VR panoramas: To begin, just click one of the guidebooks (regions) listed here, or click on the map, or scroll down to see a detailed list. Not familiar with VR panoramas? - CLICK HERE - to see an example.

New Mexico claims to be "The Land of Enchantment". The northwest quarter of the state features a unique mix and fusion of cultures: the original Indians, many still living in their ancient stone or adobe pueblos such as Zuni; Hispanic settlement along the Rio Grande dating back to the seventeenth century, characterized by the distinctive adobe architecture of towns like Santa Fe; and the white or Anglo population of cities, ranches, and mines. The three cultures share a dramatic landscape of mountains and high desert valleys dotted with prehistoric ruins. In the south the landscape opens up with wider valleys and deeper deserts, flattening out in the east as the Great Plains.

  • I call my guidebook for northern New Mexico Pueblo Country both for still-inhabited pueblos such as Acoma, and for prehistoric ruins including Chaco, Bandelier, and the Salinas pueblos. It also includes the modern city of Albuquerque and the state capital at Santa Fe.
  • South of there I call simply Southern New Mexico, which includes White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
