Winnemucca
on the Humboldt River and Interstate 80 Nevada

Present day Winnemucca is an important stop on Interstate 80, the halfway point across Nevada. The present highway for the most part follows the route of the California Trail, though it cuts a few corners, such as at Golconda Summit. The trail and railroad closely follow the river, through narrow Emigrant Canyon.
