Virtual Guidebook to

Nebraska West of the 100th Meridian

Western Nebraska was a revelation for me, beautiful landscapes full of history. It is in some ways the epitome of the West - wagon trains, the Pony Express, cowboys and Indians, railroads, vast praires, and herds of buffalo.

It was a real thrill for me to finally see Chimney Rock, wagon ruts, the North Platte River (a mile wide and an inch deep), the Great Plains, and huge Union Pacific steam locomotives, all of them familiar images from my childhood.
