Idaho is the least visited and most under-appreciated of the western states. Which is too bad, it has a lot to offer - great alpine scenery in the Sawtooths, the largest wilderness in the lower 48 in its central mountains, fantastic volcanic features at Craters of the Moon, famous whitewater runs, and ski resorts. Also historic traces of Lewis and Clark and the Oregon Trail, plus Shoshone Falls - the continent's largest waterfall.
Maybe they don't want a lot of outsiders sharing their state - after all the best they can come up with as a state slogan (as used on their license plates) is "Famous Potatoes".
I have divided the state into two regions:
