Colorado lies squarely across the continental divide, with the Great Plains on the east, desert plateaus to the west, and the Rocky Mountains down the middle. Colorado is famous for its mile-high cities and old mining towns, world class ski resorts and spectacular mountain scenery. But it also boasts red rock canyons, giant sand dunes, and prehistoric stone ruins.
It is a long drive from California to Colorado, with an awful lot of serious distractions along the way. I have made three attempts to shoot the Rockies, each partly thwarted by bad weather. Denver is the only major western city that I have not documented with my panoramas, so I consider it a priority. Summer of 2012 seems a reasonable prediction for my next foray.
