Whalers Cove at Point Lobos
Point Lobos State Reserve California

Whalers Cove was the site of a whaling station and later an abalone cannery. Now it is famed as the only place for divers to enter the water at Point Lobos. Its sheltered waters are crowded with a kelp forest and rich in marine life.

The cove is backed by Carmelo Meadow, one of the few grasslands at Point Lobos. An old whaler's cabin is now a small museum.
