Ragged Point
on the Big Sur coast, Los Padres National Forest California

The Ragged Point Inn and Resort occupies a flat-topped promontory 350 feet above the ocean. For those coming from the south it provides a dramatic first glimpse of the Big Sur coast.

In the 1950's development here consisted of a snack bar with a sign that said simply "EAT". Since then it has grown to a complex of buildings with a gas station/convenience store, restaurant, gift shop, and 39 hotel rooms. The views in all directions are spectacular.
