Virtual Guidebook to El Camino Real
Upper San Antonio Valley
Los Padres National Forest California

This is one of the undiscovered gems among California landscapes, a parkland of stately old oaks, surrounded by steep chaparral-covered mountains, and enlivened by rock outcrops. Additionally, some years it has one of the best widlflower displays anywhere in the state.

Fort Hunter-Ligget is a much larger area of similarly beautiful landscape, but you must drive through it without stopping. Towards the end of the road Santa Lucia Memorial Park is also similar, but much smaller.
