The main highway from the populous east coast of Vancouver Island across to Port Alberni and the west coast passes right through MacMillan Park. It consists of a beautiful grove of giant Douglas fir, with smaller western hemlock and red cedar growing between. The understory is lush, with huge ferns, a variety of shrubs, and the beautiful but thorny Devils Club.

This is one of the province's leading tourist attractions, and people pour in by the busload. The grove is laced with well beaten paths. Everyone strolls around and is duly impressed with the majesty of the forest. True to form it was raining hard when this panorama was made.
