The road to the microwave tower on Stone Mountain affords sweeping views. From here a trail leads up a valley in the Stone Mountain Range to Flower Springs Lake, which on a sunny summer day can be as beautiful as its name. The braided stream to the east is the Wokpash River, coming down out of one of Canada's wildest and most remote areas. Several peaks back up in there commemorate people and events of the second world war era: Mount Roosevelt, Churchill Peak, and ... Mount Stalin! Stalin is right next to Yalta Peak. Maybe its time to rethink some of those names. Next: Racing River |
