Kinuseo Falls is on the Murray River in the Hart Range, part of the far northern Rockies of British Columbia. It is about 220 feet high, with a huge volume of water when in spring spate. i consider it to be one of the truly great waterfalls in British Columbia, along with Helmcken, Hunlen, Takkakaw, Della and Shannon. More than any of the others, it imparts a sense of raw power. The Murray River flows along, deep and green, to the very brink of the falls. Then it breaks instantly into a deafening thunderous cataract that plunges down out of sight. BC Parks has built a nice platform right out over the brink, so you needn't risk your life getting too close. Most people only see this fall from the top, where a short level trail leads from the parking lot to the platform. But another trail leads down through beautiful forest to the edge of low cliffs a half mile downstream. The view from down there, with the falls in perspective, is also wonderful, but it lacks the immediacy of the view from the brink. Next: Pine Pass |
