Virtual Guidebooks to
Alberta, Canada

Here are two guidebooks with almost 200 VR panoramas covering the Canadian province of Alberta: To begin, just click one of the guidebooks (regions) listed here, or click on the map, or scroll down to see a detailed list. Not familiar with VR panoramas? - CLICK HERE - to see an example.

Did you know that Alberta was named not after Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's husband), but for his daughter, Princess Louise Alberta (Duchess of Argylle), who was named after her father? And yes, Lake Louise was named for her also.

Royal trivia aside, this is a magnificent part of our planet. Ask any Canadian to select several pictures representing their native land and one of them will undoubtedly be of the Canadian Rockies, probably in Banff or Jasper National Parks, Alberta. Another might well be of the Canadian prairies, likely also in Alberta.

I have made five trips through Alberta and can't wait to get back (probably in the summer of 2011). The mountains are superlative, but the prairies have their own special beauty and interest.

I have divided Alberta into two guidebooks following the very obvious natural boundaries:

  • The guidebook to the Prairies of Alberta covers a much larger area, even though I have not yet ventured north of Edmonton or east all the way to Saskatchewan.
