Moose Pond is alongside the Salmon River, just a little ways from the town of Hyder. It is a pretty place, with beavers and lots of water birds, and would seem to be a perfect habitat for moose. So its name would be obvious, right? No, it was named for the fraternal organization, the Loyal Order of Moose. Well, somebody had a sense of humor. The strange sight in the opposite direction can only be explained by too many days of driving. |
